Palm Desert project

This project struck a personal cord, Palm Desert, California is a place that holds personal significance and serves as a constant source of creative inspiration. For this special guest room and office, my clients’ vision was twofold: they needed a highly functional dual-purpose space, but they also wanted to capture the soul of one of their favorite local restaurants, Porta Via!

The goal was to translate that old Hollywood meets mid-century modern aesthetic into this room. To achieve this, we mixed textures that define the desert’s iconic design history. Anchoring the room with fluted wood to bring in an organic, mid-century feel, then layered in gilded brass accents for that necessary touch of sophisticated shine.

The color story is really what brings this space to life! We used luscious green velvet and curated art to echo the lush landscapes that break the desert horizon. The large-scale abstract art above the bed sets a serene, botanical tone, while the playful tiger print on the bolster pillows add a layer of unexpected personality.

Ultimately, this isn’t just a room - it’s the essence you feel when you’re getting dressed up to go out to dinner in a great atmosphere with fun company. The tone of this room is so cool… dare I say cool enough you’ll find yourself wishing a crisp martini was in your hand the second you sit in that green velvet chair.
